With over 17 years of experience across Simulation, Engineering, and ICT, Philip Sammons is a seasoned Product Owner at Contour Advisory, where he leads their Research and Development (R&D) portfolio, driving the expertise and emerging technologies. Philip’s career has included extensive work with the Australian Defence Force (ADF), contributing to high-profile simulation and training projects that shape defence capabilities in synthetic and live training environments.
As the Product Owner at Contour, Philip heads a multidisciplinary team focusing on integrating cutting-edge technologies to meet evolving operational needs. His role is central to Contour’s mission, as he manages agile product cycles, prioritises development objectives, and ensures strategic alignment with company goals.
Among his current initiatives, Philip oversees the development of AI tools leveraging Large Language Models (LLMs) to enhance operational efficiencies, a blockchain-enabled academic skills passport, and a common control interface for Robotic Autonomous Systems (RAS). In addition, he leads is working with a team at the Australian Defence College to develop the next generation Defence training environment.
Philip’s background includes significant roles as a Simulation Integration Engineer and Requirements Engineer for defence projects, where he designed and deployed complex simulation architectures and enhanced training environments, ensuring robust interoperability and compliance with defence standards. His experience in technical architecture, systems integration, and agile leadership make him a key figure at Contour, where he continues to innovate for Defence and other sectors.
